New Account Manager Scraps Sports for Adventures in Advertising

To be fair, OBI Creative’s new Account Manager, Joe Menaugh, isn’t leaving sports behind altogether; you can still spot this thrill-seeker skydiving, canyoneering, running, hiking, golfing or attending one of his children’s sporting events. Professionally speaking however, this seven-year CWS planning committee member and former Associate Director of the Big Ten Conference is hanging up his baseball cap and putting on his client services hat for the OBI team.

During his time with the CWS, Joe assisted in the management of the marketing and event details each year, which is everything except as he says, “what happened on the field.” He worked closely with the NCAA and has a keen understanding of the advertising agency world and the Omaha community, which he describes as tremendously philanthropic and engaged.

“After more than 15 years working in athletics, OBI Creative is my first time outside of the sports arena – literally and figuratively,” says Joe. “Yet, I am excited about the opportunity to meet new people, adapt to new ways of successfully managing a business and developing new professional skills.” Joe believes the fast-paced world of national amateur athletic events has prepared him for the real-time, quick decision-making often demanded by the advertising industry.

Prior to his work with the CWS and Big Ten Conference, Joe was an Assistant Director of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and a PR Assistant for the Denver Broncos. Today, this father of two and Project Harmony Service League Board Member says if he was independently wealthy he would teach math and coach high school football.

We’re glad that at least for now, Joe still needs the money, since our team and our clients get to benefit from his passion, talent and experience.
