OBI Creative Wins PRSA Nebraska, AIGA Nebraska and MarCom Awards

2015 was a good year. An award-winning year. OBI Creative garnered two Gold awards for Habitat for Humanity of Omaha work at AIGA Nebraska’s SHOW Exhibition; five PRSA Nebraska Paper Anvil awards for Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, Adrian Belew and FLUX app launch and Colon Cancer Coalition Don’t Miss It* Campaign; and a Gold for the Colon Cancer Coalition Don’t Miss It* Campaign at MarCom Awards.

About the competitions:

AIGA Nebraska’s SHOW Exhibition is Nebraska’s most prestigious juried competition honoring and showcasing the year’s best design work.

PRSA Nebraska Paper Anvil Awards are judged by a panel of PRSA members of a chapter located out-of-state. At least one judge per category must be an Accredited (APR) member of PRSA and entries are judged on research, execution and results.

MarCom Awards is a creative competition for individuals and companies involved in the development of print, visual, audio and web materials. The worldwide MarCom competition receives 6,000 entries per year from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

About the work

The Habitat Omaha Brew Haha logo won Gold in AIGA Nebraska’s SHOW experimental and unpublished category. Brew Haha is an annual Habitat Omaha fundraising event that brings good drink and good food together for a good cause. While Habitat chose a different direction for the logo, judges felt the work still warranted a gold.

Habitat Omaha’s 2014 annual report received a Gold in AIGA Nebraska’s SHOW corporate communications category as well as an Award of Merit at PRSA. The report commemorated Habitat Omaha’s 30-year anniversary of building homes and transforming lives in the Omaha community. More than 1,500 copies of the report were distributed; and, as a result, end-of-year donations significantly increased.

Colon Coalition Don’t Miss It* Campaign won Awards of Merit and Awards of Excellence at PRSA as well as a Gold at Marcom Awards. Colon Cancer Coalition’s mission is to educate young adults and adults nationwide on the importance of cancer screenings; OBI’s integrated Don’t Miss It* campaign communicated how terms and conditions may apply to life if screenings don’t happen early and often. While the objective was to secure two cities to run the campaign in 2015, four cities have adopted the campaign thus far, including an appearance on a video board in NYC’s Times Square.

Adrian Belew FLUX media kit secured an Award of Merit at PRSA. Adrian Belew likes to say he is the “world’s greatest experimental whammy twang bar king.” The guitarist developed two music apps: FLUX:FX for professionals and FLUX by belew as a new and creative distribution channel for his music. OBI created an integrated marketing campaign for the 2014-15 launch of both IOS apps, which included a media kit, posters and custom CES and SXSW trade show coordination. Within the first 30 days of release, FLUX by belew earned more than $8,000 in sales and generated hundreds of articles and interviews regarding this evolutionary step in music.
